Project Overview
AR Guestbook and AR Museum, a.k.a. Verizon Digital Experience is a client project for Verizon Real Estate. They wanted to revamp main lobby area of Verizon’s HQ in Basking Ridge, NJ with interactive augmented reality experience. The audience of the project is guests who visit the Verizon office. The space we planned to work with is the main lobby area which is comprised of 2 floors.
They wanted two kinds of experiences. One is guests being able to sign in and leave their names and signatures in AR space. That is later we called ‘AR Guestbook.’The other one is to learn more about the history of Verizon using AR technology, which we called ‘AR Museum’.The original plan was to have the AR Guestbook experience installed on the first floor and AR Museum on the second floor of the lobby. However, the plan changed, and we decided to move both two projects to the second floor.
Spatial design and ux
As a leading UX Designer who is in sole charge of shaping the whole experience in a physical space, I had to take into consideration the site as the project will be installed as a part of the architecture.
I went on a field trip to take 360°photos with a Ricoh camera to understand the architectural space better and for reference when building 3D models.
Since I wanted the experience to be approachable yet not to get in people’s way, I studied the movement of the people in the space, where the installation should be placed within the space, and where to put trigger images, which was a critical part of the design.
